Allen Bowns and his U10 girls took a stand in the battle against breast cancer this past October. Coach Allen had shirts made for his U10 team as well as his daughter, Ansleigh's U15 team. The girls went pink in support of a great cause!

| | | | by Admin posted 12/12/2009 On November 15, 2009, the U-18 Fusion Gold will lay official claim to the title of Region III Premier League Champions. To say the least, this is a remarkable accomplishment for a team that, up until this point, had received little recognition in the select soccer world. It would be safe to say that few people, besides their coaches, expected them to go so far.
Over the previous year, the team began to show promise of what was to come: They captured the U-17 Classic 1 title (going undefeated and allowing only 2 goals the entire season). This performance earned them a berth in R3PL.
What is impressive is that, this team does not come from one of the larger, well known clubs in the state of Georgia. It does not carry a large roster, and does not carry many "high profile" players. Yet, this mix of players has managed to hold its own with some of the best teams in the Southeast.
The R3PL team was seeded last in its group and as such, played most of its games away. It was necessary for the team to travel for hours to play in Lake City, Savannah and Orlando (for most of their games). They often played with no more than three subs, and yet, they came away with a 7-0-2 record. In their wake, they left tied or defeated state champions and finalists from Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
The team is coached by Jose Pinho, known to most as "Gaucho". He arrived from Brazil four years ago and immediately began the process of developing a good team into a force to be reckoned with. This season is the culmination of exceptional planning, intensive technical training, ever evolving tactical sessions, seemingly endless agility and conditioning work, and, sheer determination to improve upon their game.
Over the years, Fusion Gold has reached the Georgia State Cup semi-finals three times, They made it to the 2006 finals, only to lose in overtime. The team reached the quarterfinals in the 2008 Sun Bowl, and the finals in the 2008 Norcross Nike Cup. The players were dubbed the "Iron Men of Georgia" at the end of the 2008 Birmingham Liberty Cup, after playing through the entire tournament with either one sub, no sub. or less than a full side. And, for the most part, this team has managed to play that way, through and around injuries, with little rest, and against some of the best in the field.
The defense, comprised of two exceptional central defenders, Zachry Samples and Michael Hampl, outside defenders Jared Williams, Nick Nova, and Kyle Petrina, and anchored by goalkeeper CJ Cochran, has frustrated the best of forwards and their systems of attack. With their uncanny ability to read the play, the defense has allowed very few goals over the years, and typically responds with a quick transition to the attack. This has much to do with the team's success. Stoppers Daniel Espinel and Brandon Lloyd are the disruptors in front of the defense, and can make any forward very uncomfortable. They also have the ability and the vision to range into the attack as needed. Midfielders Zak Wallingford, Derek Jones, and Brian Marshall are tireless and unsefish in their efforts to work the ball, and each have found the net when it was sorely needed. The forwards, Chibuzo Nwosu, Mouhamed Fall, Peter O'Reilly, Jamie Gleason, and Tyler Rising have seemingly taken turns in bringing the attack to their opponents, with sensational runs, well-timed assists, and spectacular finishing. Soon to rejoin the team is midfileder Chris Britton, who was injured during summer Super Y competition. He will only make this team better.
With Gaucho's vision, and a considerable amount of work, the U-18 Fusion Gold has found a way to push themselves to play together, to cover for each other, to excell, and to win against seemingly impossible odds.
Speaking of a culmination of years of work: between now and January 12th, the team will be participating in the Norcross NIKE Cup, the Super Y Nationals (with Alpharetta United), the Disney Showcase, and, as top seed in the Georgia State Cup.

| | | | by Admin posted 11/29/2009 The U16 Fusion Shockers continued a very successful season with a decisive ASA Cup victory the weekend of November 21-22nd.
The Shockers dropped their first match of the tournament 1 - 2 against a hand-picked ASA Xplosion that had gone undefeated the entire regular season. However, the Shockers rallied themselves for a 2 - 1 win over league rivals AFU Cheetahs in their 2nd match. The Shockers then needed a 2nd win against ASA Rockets in order to meet Xplosion in the finals. The Shockers handily defeated Rockets 8 - 0, setting the stage for a dramatic rematch for the Cup finals. With the final being decided on a penalty shootout, backup Keeper Grayce Williams came up with two big saves, and joined six teammates in scoring a 6 - 5 victory over a very surprised ASA Xplosion.
Next week, the U16 Shockers travel with sister team U14 Shockers to Athens, Georgia, for the prestigious Athens Finale Cup.
Claire Guthrie, Loren Philbrook, Rachel Bell, Grayce Williams, Grace Guthrie, Megan Selvig, Shelby Robinson, Lauren Bineau, KC Lowenthal, Haley Anne Cork, Christy Tovar, Kelsie Rice, Coach Brian Cork, Lindsay Wojcik, Coach Chris Tovar.
